"The Lake Above The Clouds"

Screen Shot 2015 09 20 At 9.00.06 Pm

A friend and I set out on the rough hike to Lake Waiau from the summit of Mauna Kea at about 13,000 feet. after a while we were able to see the lake in the distance. For both of us it was the first time being there. We both knew and understand how sacred and powerful this lake is. I made sure to pay the highest respect for the land while hiking in this area. The lake was very calm yet powerful. We got there in enough time to see the sunset and snap a few shots. We then carefully walked along the waters edge keeping a safe distance out of respect for this sacred lake. We ended up walking around the whole lake, this was one of the vantage points I had chosen as it was at the widest spot. This photo was accomplished by stitching 8 vertical photos.
