Lā 248: HAUʻOLI LĀ KŪʻOKOʻA E KO HAWAIʻI!!!  Today is Hawaiʻiʻs 2nd National Holiday, Lā Kūʻokoʻa or Hawaiian Independence Day. On November 28, 1843, the Queen of Great Britain and the King of France (and later America) signed the Anglo-Franco Proclamation which recognized Hawaiʻi as its own independent nation-state. This all took place under the rule of Kamehameha III, Kauikeaouli, who was born make (stillborn, later brought back to life) in Keauhou, Kona. Hawaiʻi was internationally known as a sovereign independent country and a neutral one as well just like Switzerland. As we all know, corruption flooded our islands and our queen Liliʻuokalani was illegally overthrown, causing a spiral downfall for our kingdom politically, economically, socially, emotionally, mentally etc. We are now in a state of re-learning the true history of our kupuna. I encourage everyone to research more on Lā Kūʻokoʻa. It's an amazing day. NO American flag should be flown higher than the Hawaiian flag today... or ever! Fly your flags high and proud whereever you go.
