Lā 161: we honor Queen Lili'uokalani on her birthday (sept ,2 1838) and the legacy she left for her people. We gather on this day at UH Hilo library Lanai to share and connect us as students and community members in activating our inner Aloha 'Āina through Kapu Aloha for standing for what is Pono for the 'āina, our wai, our Kai, our Mauna, our resources, and our keiki. For those who are interested in taking action on environmental, cultural, and human rights issues we will start to form a group where we can address these topics. We will also be highlighting the history of our Queen, the last monarchy of the Hawaiian Kingdom. We will have the Kū'ē petition and our Kūpuna petitioner name cards on display around the campus ahu. Our goal is to educate, spread awareness, and take action. We will have sign up sheets for different Mālama 'āina events and cultural activities. Come enjoy good company, food, and activities in light of honoring our Queen. #occupyuhhilo #alohaaina #Nāwaa #kukiaihonua #Queenliliuokalani #kuepetitions
