MAUNA KEA, Hawaii – Video of an early morning raid on the encampment of Thirty Meter Telescope opponents has been released by the Department of Land and Natural Resources. The arrestees were maintaining an around-the-clock vigil on Mauna Kea. At 2 a.m., DLNR officers ascended to Hale Pohaku, where they reportedly arrested seven people at the Hale Kukia’imauna. Media was warned to stay away during the newly enacted overnight restriction at the location, even in the event of an enforcement action. The new law forbids anyone from being within one mile of the Mauna Kea Access Road between the hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. and also bans camping or the possession of certain campong related item at any hour.
